Prompt Payment Legislation Introduced
ECAO is pleased to announce that MPP Steven Del Duca (Vaughan) introduced Bill 69, Prompt Payment Act, 2013 in the Ontario Legislature.
The Private Members’ Bill which passed first reading in the Legislature was mirrored after the framework agreement reached between the Ontario caucus of NTCCC and the OGCA. If passed, Ontario would be the first jurisdiction in Canada to have adopted prompt payment legislation for the construction industry.
Bill 69 is scheduled for Second Reading debate this coming Thursday, May 16 after which time, the Bill will be sent to a committee of the legislature.
